Willow and I met through our friend, Milan Seth.

Conor O’Niell’s is an Irish pub in Ann Arbor that hosted an annual party honoring Tom Petty called the Petty Party. In 2019, our friend Milan called me and asked if I’d like to sing the Stevie Nicks parts on some Tom Petty duets with him and his band. I LOVE Stevie Nicks and had my outfit planned before we were off the phone. Then I panicked about whether or not I could sing Stevie Nicks’s parts, but I started practicing and it went well. (Actually it went fucking awesomely. The band was on fire and I was truly grateful to be a part of it.) That band was the Cool Birds and their drummer was Willow.

Willow was out of town for the first rehearsal that I attended but Milan and I went to her house to rehearse the following week. I was still a bit tense about singing the parts but she made me feel at ease. After we played, we all sat in the living room and talked for quite a while. Willow and I talked about everything, it felt like. We felt like good friends immediately.
